The place
788 Remuera Road
A modest building on a busy Auckland road, known for decades as the Raye Freedman Library. It carries the name of a woman who spent her life quietly making Jewish Auckland possible, and it has been used for learning ever since.
Today it holds Shabbat, Hebrew School, classes, holidays, kosher supplies, visitors from the other side of the planet, and an ordinary Tuesday evening shiur. It is small. It is used constantly.
What changed
The building is being sold.
Property changes hands. That is normal, and nobody is at fault. But when a small community rents its own history, one ordinary transaction can end it.
The opportunity
Chabad New Zealand can acquire 788 Remuera Road.
The consequence of not acting
A community that has gathered at one address for years begins again somewhere else — if it can.

This campaign is not about a renovation. It is about permanence — the difference between a place a community uses and a place a community keeps.
